Sony PS3 Removes 'Other OS' Option

Only time will tell the real reason behind Sony's decision to remove the 'Other OS' option on their PS3 system. Right when I was thinking it was one of the best investments I've ever made on an electronic device Sony pulls a fast one.

Only time will tell the real reason behind Sony's decision to remove the 'Other OS' option on their PS3 system. Right when I was thinking it was one of the best investments I have ever made on an electronic device Sony pulls a fast one. This is probably going to be one of the worse mistakes Sony has made this year. Considering that Sony has labeled their system as a computer and not a "Game System Only" I'd like to see what counter measures will be taken against the corporate giant. This deviation from allowing one to install any operating system on the device cancels out the openness that Sony promised with the PS3 and may land them back in the realm of heavy import taxes.

All legal stuff aside, I think that for the end-user's purpose this will be very disappointing for many. I like the versatility of the PS3 and knowing now I have to make a choice between loosing one feature in order to gain some unknown new features and current features like being able to log in to the Sony PlayStation Network is an awful decision that I now have to make. Corporate control sucks and should be banned. After all, if you paid for a device that is supposed to perform a certain feature the manufacturer should not be able to take it away later. Next, they will want to remove the ability to receive free digital channels from your TV in order to force you to buy digital cable or satellite. I smell legal action.
